WTT: the cue sports as a united front

Roissy-en-France was the location of the two-day event organized by the FFB, the French billiard federation, under the umbrella of the WCBS. At a short distance from Paris, four teams of three players competed in the snooker, pool and 3-cushion disciplines. It was a competitive event, with also an exhibition character. The intention: to showcase the cue sports in a unified manner and with a global perspective.

To make that possible, threesomes from France, Europe, Asia and Rest of The World had been invited for a men’s and a women’s tournament. Our 3-cushion discipline had a strong representation: Sameh Sidhom competing for RoTW, Frédéric Caudron for Europe, Nguyen Quoc Nguyen for Asia and Jeremy Bury for France. In the ladies’ event, Gülsen Degener represented Europe, Celine Jacques played for France and Sruong Pheavy for Asia.

Igor Figuerido from Brasil made an impression with two century breaks in snooker, and pool stars Ga Young Kim and Jasmin Ouschan proved to be the best in their field.

Frédéric Caudron played at the highest possible level: he ended two of his 30-point matches in 10 innings and averaged 2.500 overall. Pheavy underlined that she will be able to compete with Hida and Klompenhouwer in the upcoming years: she remained unbeaten in her event.

Men’s tournament:

  1. Europe 6 points
  2. Rest of The World 4 points
  3. France 2 points
  4. Asia 0 points

Women’s tournament:

  1. Asia 6 points
  2. Europe 4 points
  3. Rest of The World 2 points
