Disturbing spectators’ misconduct during UMB events

Published on: June 01, 2025

During recent UMB events we noticed that some spectators misbehaved in the playing venue, disturbing the concentration of players and the normal course of the matches. As in any other sport, this behavior will not be tolerated.

Billiards in general, and Carom in particular, have always been considered as a “Gentleman’s sport” where politeness and sportive behavior, not only from players and officials, but certainly also from spectators, play a crucial role.

As most UMB event matches are broadcast LIVE, we must avoid the image of our sport being harmed. Mainly when the disturbance results in the interruption of the match broadcasting.

Based on the organizational rules for the conduct of undisturbed UMB events, the Organization Committee of UMB events has monitoring powers to protect the officials, players and their partner, present in the playing venue, to secure the normal course of the matches.

Therefore, when facing a complaint from an active player about a spectator’s misconduct that disturbs his concentration or leads to the interruption of the matches, the UMB will act accordingly, which may result in exclusion from the arena or even expulsion from the venue.
