3CC WORLD MASTERS IN SEOUL

Lausanne,  July 11th

From Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 July, twenty-four of the world’s best players will compete in the 3CC World Masters, a new format introduced in collaboration between the UMB and Kozoom. The venue is the Imperial Palace Hotel in the South Korean capital.

The prize fund in these Masters is considerable: it exceeds even the increased prize money in World Cups. The winner in Seoul will receive 40.000 dollar. There is 20.000 dollars for the runner-up, 15.000 dollars for the numbers three and four, 10.000 dollars for places 5 / 8, 6.000 dollars for places 9 / 16 and 4.000 dollars for the players who finish 17 / 24. Extra prizes of 5.000 dollars will be given to the players who produce the high average and the high run of the event. The total prize fund is 220.000 dollars.

In this new format, players will have twenty different positions to start from, one being the standard break shot, the other nineteen being computer generated. They will try to score as many points as possible from these starting positions, and their runs are
allowed to go on indefinitely, provided they don’t miss.

If a player makes a very high run in this event, it will be recognized by the UMB as a world record in its own category, like the separate world records introduced in the Scotch Double format.

The field of 24 is split up into eight groups of three, as follows:

Group A: Frédéric Caudron (Belgium) Minh Cam Ma

(Vietnam) Yusuke Mori (Japan)

Group B:  Eddy Merckx (Belgium) Jérémy Bury (France) Wan Young Choi (South Korea)

Group C: Marco Zanetti (Italy) Eddy Leppens (Belgium) Chi Yeon Cho (South Korea)

Group D: Dani Sánchez (Spain) Nikos Polychronopoulos (Greece) Roland Forthomme (Belgium)

Group E: TorbjörBlomdahl (Sweden) Nguyen Quoc Nguyen (Vietnam) Semih Sayginer (Turkey)

Grou G: Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) Jung Han Heo (South Korea) Tayfun Tasdemir (Turkey)

Group H:  Tran Quyet Chien (Vietnam) Sameh Sidhom (Egypt) Ngo Dinh Nai (Vietnam).

All matches can be watched on Kozoom. There is a time difference between South Korea and (most of) Western Europe of seven hours.
