Torino October 5th 2024

The draw of the 32 athletes who have officially earned a place in the knockout rounds of the 26th 5-pins World Championship, held in the magnificent setting of the Reggia di Venaria, has been set.
After intense competitions and high-level technical challenges, the best four athletes in each group have earned access to the knockout phase, which will begin today, Saturday, October 5th.
Many expectations but above all many surprises that were experienced on the blue cloths set up in the Sala Citroniera of the Reggia. As many as 14 Italians qualified for the knockout rounds.
In Group A the only and sole protagonist is the young Turin player Andrea Ragonesi who has won seven games out of seven, conceding little to his opponents. Behind him are the reigning World Champion Andrea Quarta, the Argentine Juan Demasi and in fourth place the Uruguayan Eliomar Berrutti.
In Group B, the Italian David Martinelli is leading, followed by the 2017 World Champion, the Argentine Alejandro Martinotti. Third place is for the Uruguayan Robert Mendonca and fourth for the Argentine Gustavo Longo.
Great show also in Group C where the Italian Paolo Marcolin finished in first place followed by the Argentine Cesar D'Ottavio. Third and fourth place for the Uruguayan Alejandro Moran and the Belgian Miguel Bustos.
In Group D, the reigning European Champion Michelangelo Aniello finished as first place ahead of the Uruguayan Diego Capote, followed by the Argentine Lautaro Menghi and the Italian Camilo Gomez.
In Group E, the skills of the 2015 World Champion, the Italian Matteo Gualemi, stood out, leading with six victories out of seven. Second and third place were for the Argentines Josè Oliva and Matias Lacomba, fourth place for the Italian Loris Saggia.
Group F reflected expectations in terms of spectacularity. A real iron group in which the 2019 World Champion, the Italian Ciro Davide Rizzo, emerged, followed by the Italian Michele Gatta. Third place for the 2022 European Vice-Champion, the Danish Kasper Kristoffersen, and fourth place for the German Max Gabel, bronze medalist at the European Championship in Calangianus.
Group G was dominated by the Italian Pierluigi Sagnella who won seven matches out of seven. Followed by the three-time World Champion, the Argentine Gustavo Torregiani, his compatriot Matias Spattola and the Italian Alessandro Cavalli.
Finally, in Group H the dream of Rosario Attianese continues, who, after having earned access to the group stage thanks to the open qualifications, managed to finish in the lead ahead of the Italian Achille Mignolo. Third place for the Uruguayan Fredy Larrosa and fourth for the Argentine Emanuele Dario.
The knockout phase will begin today, Saturday 5 October, starting at 10:00 in the Sala della Citroniera of the Reggia di Venaria. The matches will be broadcast in livestreaming on the Federale Billiard Channel. Starting at 18:00, one of the quarterfinals will be broadcast live on RaiPlay.
