The second consecutive edition held in Ankara of the World Artistic Billiards Championship has closed with the unappealable victory of the Turkish player Haci Arap Yaman, escorted by the Turkish players Baris Cin who obtained the silver medal and Serdar Gumus, only the Spanish player Hector Cuadrado was able to resist Turkish hegemony, reaching the podium with the bronze medal.
Today, the knockout phase of the World Championships Artistic ran right up to the climax, via the semi-finals to the final!
The semifinals saw 
2 Spaniard and 3 Turks! The semifinal between CUADRADO (ES) and YAMAN (TR) was very emotional for the Turkish fans, because if CUADRADO were eliminated the new World Champion will be for sure a Turkish player. And it ran exactly this way! CUADRADO started a bit weak and YAMAN very strong, so after just a couple of figures a clear gap was in place. Then both players played on their fine level, but CUADRADO could not close the gap. Winner YAMAN!
The semifinals between GÜMÜS (ES) and CIN (TR) started also with a big gap of 30 points in favor of CIN. The reason was CIN’s level of far over 80%. But GÜMÜS, a former World Champion, is an experienced and tough fighter and he kept on going with raising average. But in the end on this day CIN was too strong with 77,16%.
So, the final between YAMAN and CIN had to clarify, who is the World Champion 2024. And YAMAN started with unbelievable 102 points without any miss = 100%. CIN did his best and this was over 60% and in the middle of the match he reduced the huge gap to a makeable distance. But in the end YAMAN was too strong in this match and the name of the new champion is YAMAN Haci Arap! CIN Baris is a brilliant runner up and played a remarkable tournament.
In the end the audience applauded to the new World Champion and the podium and to the by far strongest nation in this event, Turkiye!
It was a wonderful tournament, supported by the performance and hospitality of the Turkish Billiard Association, with the best artistic players and a wonderful arena. Next time you must come and see!

On June 21, the knockout stage for the Artistic World Championship took place. We could see that if you want to win in this phase, you better play more than 60% and sometimes that's not enough! In the rounds of the last 16 3 player were over 70% and one over 80%!
As always, you can find all the results in detail on our website, but let's take a look at the details. In the round of the last 16 all Austrians (HEKERLE and DAHLKE), all players from Hungary (KUN and TOTH) and all Germans (SINGER and HEINRICH) were eliminated. The reason is quite simple, it was the pure power of 3 Turkish, 3 French and 2 Spanish players. So, these 3 nations have reached the quarterfinals.
The standard was also very high in the quarterfinals, where the tension increased even further for each player. Unfortunately for the French, all their players were eliminated, despite some good performances. For the Spaniards, it was SANCHEZ who was beaten by GÜMÜS (TR). As a result, there will be three Turks and one Spaniard on the podium at this World Championship. It is still unclear what colors the medals will be for each player. But we will find out today, on the day of the semi-finals and the final.

From June 19 to 20, the qualification rounds for the Artistic World Championship took place. We saw exciting matches and some surprising results in the TBF Arena and enjoyed the hospitality of the Turkish Billiard Federation.
You find all results in detail on our website, but let’s talk about some interesting points. For example, the very strong Turks have 3 out of 4 players with a percentage higher than 60%, led by another Turkish player, Mr. YAMAN, with over 70%. Only Mr. HAMMEN from France achieved also over 60%. Both Hungarians (TOTH and KUN) are No. 1 in their groups with high percentages! On the other hand, the reigning champion David GONZALEZ from Mexico could not make it the last 16! Same goes for the other 4 Mexicans and all 4 Japanese players, so the top 16 player are all from CEB federations!
There were also some remarkable individual performances. REVERCHON (FR), who prevailed in the group with the reigning European and World champions, making him the third Frenchman in the top 16. Or Bernd Singer (D), who defeated his great compatriot Thomas Ahrens in a thrilling tie break in the first group match. He and Mr. Heinrich have thus reached the knockout stage.
The Austrians can boast a survival rate of 100%. Congratulations to Mr. DAHLKE and Mr. HEKERLE. Tow out of three Spaniards (SANCHEZ and CUADRADO) and the very strong Belgian VERVLIET Erik complete the knockout stage. Also, congratulation to the CEB to their World Champion, which name we know on Saturday evening.

From 19 – 22 June, the Turkish Federation will once again host the Artistic World Championship in the world's only exclusive billiard venue. We saw last year that at this level, artistic billiard is a discipline full 
of excitement, brilliant technical skills and solutions on the edge of physics. An exciting, big show!!
Can the reigning champion David Gonzalez from Mexico achieve such a brilliant performance again? The traditionally strong Turks with 6 starters (2 World Champions), 4 more Mexicans and the 4 Japanese, who are always well prepared, will be up against it. The rest of the starters, all from CEB federations, also have World and European Champions in their rows and a lot of players we know from the podiums of past Championships.
Whoever becomes the next world champion will have to compete successfully against the world's top selection of artistic players.
The tables in Ankara are “Zeki Bilardo”, the cloth is ClassOne B 2 Black and the balls are Dynaspheres. You cannot ask for better material!
The 32 participants from 10 countries and 3 continents will compete in 8 groups of four to reach the knockout phase of the best 16. Please read all information upfront on our the UMB webpage under “Active Events”.
