On April 27th, the bi-annual General Assembly of WCBS was organized during the Professional World Championship Snooker in Sheffield (Great-Britain). The UMB was represented by JC. Dupont, WCBS President, and Farouk Barki, Technical Delegate for the Worldgames in Cali. Fernando Requena, Vice-President of UMB, represented the UMB during these meetings that gathered the three divisions: Carom, Pool and Snooker. <o:p></o:p> The way to participation in the Olympic Games is still long and difficult but not impossible. Billards can prove that the sport deserves its place. Within two months, billiards will participate for the fourth time at the World Games of Cali (Colombia)聽 with the absolute top players of all divisions.<o:p></o:p> 聽These days, the WCBS has strenghtened the position of billiards by gathering the representatives of all divisions: WPA (Pool), UMB (Carom), IBSF (Snooker amateurs) and WPBSA (Snooker professionals).<o:p></o:p> The path towards this goal was opened in 1992 by former UMB-President Andr茅 Gagneaux and has taken some concrete form since 1998, when billiards became recognized as an Olympic sports discipline during the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano (Japan) by former IOC-President Samaranch.<o:p></o:p> By doing so, WPBSA demonstrates the absolute willingness and necessity for the entire billiards community to unite in one single organization in order to be better armed to achieve the final aim: the presence of billiards on the Olympic Program. Without any doubt, the most important decision taken was joining the WPBSA (World Professional Billiard Snooker Association) and the WCBS. <o:p>UMB.</o:p>

These last few days the famous CRUCIBLE THEATRE was not only once again the yearly center of the top Professional Snooker competition, but also hosted the General Assembly and Boardmeetings of WCBS.
