UMB, June 2nd, 2023.
We inform and warn our broad UMB Billiards Community about some media companies and third rang journalists that constantly publish false or fake information on the social media, without any facts checking,
DO NOT TAKE THIS INFORMATION FOR GRANTED!
As an example of false news, we recently received information from our Vietnam Federation (VBSF) about a posted article on the social media announcing that PBA received the approval from the Vietnam Official Sports Authorities to organize billiards events in Vietnam.
As this fake information may harm the image and integrity of our sport in Vietnam, UMB and the Vietnam Federation will continue to severely sanction participants to international events not organized under the UMB umbrella.
Here follows the statement received from the President of the Vietnam Federation, Mr. Son Hai LE, concerning the false publication about PBA tournament organizations in Vietnam:
-
AALAV is a social organization that promotes Vietnam's culture, literature, and art. This Alliance is not related to any activities in billiards, and any kind of sports in general. FMG is partnering with non-sport organization that is not relevant to Vietnam billiards, Vietnam Olympic Committee, VBSF, or any Sports Authority in Vietnam.
-
As we are aware that events not sanctioned by UMB will have negative impacts on Vietnam, we do advise Vietnamese billiard players and sport authorities not to attend or participate in any events that is not under UMB umbrella, otherwise UMB will apply serious punishment.
UMB is a non-profit organization, recognized by IOC, aiming to the Worldwide promotion of Billiards at all levels, and not only profit as other organizations. UMB considers that all International Billiards events should take place under the approval of the National Sports Authorities and National Federations. UMB will strongly use all efforts and power to prevent such non-sanctioned organizations in any country.
We consider it our duty to warn you about these rejectable practices of some media companies and so-called journalists.
UMB.
